Halloween Events and Autumn Festivals in Polk County This October

Halloween events are popping up across the county this month. We’ve compiled a list of these seasonal events, so you won’t miss out on the festive fun!

Find each event arranged below by date in one of two categories: Halloween Fun or Fall Festival Delight.

Halloween Fun

Brick or Treat Weekends
When? Saturdays & Sundays through October 26
Where? LEGOLAND®  Florida Resort, Winter Haven
What? This spooky, kooky event features a Haunted Scavenger Hunt in Miniland USA, trick-or-treating along the brick-or-treat trail, LEGO build activities, the largest LEGO Jack-O-Lantern in the world, Halloween entertainment and an all-kids costume with brick-tastic prizes!

The Shallow Grave Haunted House
When? 
Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays through October 31
Where? Winter Haven
What? This haunted attraction is based in Winter Haven and is complete with over-the-top in-your-face scares with movie quality sets to assault all of your senses.

CornFusion Corn Maze & Zombie Paintball 
When? 
Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays through November 2, 2014
Where? 
The Smith Family Ranch, Lakeland
What?  Fun for the entire family at this Lakeland attraction featuring a corn maze, corn box, corn cannon, country store, cow train, mini maze, hayride, pumpkin patch, pony ride,  jumping pillow and zombie paintball hayrides.

Harvest Holler Corn Maze
When? 
Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays through November 2, 2014
Where? 
Tavares Road, Polk City
What? Enjoy fun with the family at this interactive corn maze in Polk City. Harvest Holler also features a hayride, hay fort, corn cribs, tire swings, cow train, corn hole and a pumpkin patch.

Ghost Stories
When? October 10
Where? Bartow Public Library
What? Join Polk County Parks and Recreation for a spooky night of ghost tales that the entire family can enjoy.

Downtown Lakeland ZombieFest
When? October 11
Where? Munn Park, Lakeland
What? Downtown Lakeland welcomes you to the third annual ZombieFest featuring live music, food vendors, costume contest, pub crawl, and a zombie walk are just some of the fun we have planned.

Halloween Spooktacular
When?

Where?  Wabash Community Center, Lakeland
What? Polk County Parks and Recreation present this free kids Halloween party with arts & crafts and a trick-or-treat village.

The Addams Family
When? October 12- November 2
Where? Lakeland Community Theatre
What? This magnificently macabre new musical comedy by the creators of The Jersey Boys, will entertain you to death. Come meet the Family, we’ll keep the lights off for you.

Halloween Pet Party and Costume Contest

What? Bring your human and furry friends to enjoy food, music, pet photos, an agility course, awesome raffle items, and the Human Society of Polk County’s Mobile Adoption unit. All proceeds will benefit the HSPC.

Haunted Halloween Hayride & Happenings

What? Join Polk County Parks & Recreation to celebrate Halloween with a haunted hayride, carnival games, live entertainment, arts & crafts, contests, a kids zone, trick or treat village and more.

Monster Mash 5K

Where? Mulberry Civic Center
What? The Mulberry Chamber of Commerce would like to present the First Annual Monster Mash 5K Run/Walk where costumes are encouraged.

Buckingham Terror
When?

Buckingham Avenue, Lakeland
What? Tread with care as you encounter menacing scarecrows, ravenous livestock and the remaining Waterson family members at this Haunted House on Buckingham Avenue in Lakeland.

Joggin’ for the Noggin! 5k

 Polk State College Lakeland Campus
What? The annual Joggin’ for the Noggin! 5k to benefit Polk State College Foundation promises to be a fun and SCARY, Halloween themed race. The run will feature zombies on the trail to put pep in steps. Be prepared to be SCARED. This is a family-friendly race and will include spooky and fun activities for all ages.

Trick or Treat Party

What? This Polk County Parks and Recreation event is a free community Halloween party with candy, activities for the whole family, and more.

What? This Trick-or-Treat party is a free community Halloween party for kids and families presented by Polk County Parks and Recreation.

Hope to Survive – Zombie 5K
When?
 October 25
Where? Holloway Park, Lakeland
What? Human runners will be given a two minute head start; human walkers a five minute head start. Then, the ZOMBIES are released! Humans’ goal is to make it to the finish line without being infected. Zombies’ goal is to infect as many as possible! Humans will be given two belts to wear and as long as they reach the finish line with one belt, they are a survivor.

“Murder is a Fine Art” Murder Mystery Dinner
When? October 25
Where? 
Ramon Theater, Frostproof
What? Use your investigative skills to identify the murderer of art critic Libby LaBelle. Enjoy dinner, super sleuthing and our own “cast of characters”.

Halloween Harvest
When? October 28
Where? 
 Downtown Auburndale
What? Downtown Auburndale will be transformed into a not so scary haunting ground for ghost and goblins. The evening will feature a costume contest, trick or treating with downtown businesses and organizations, entertainment, food, crafts, displays by the Auburndale Fire Department, the Auburndale Police Department, Polk County Sheriff’s Office, Monster Trucks and guest appearances by McGruff the Crime Dog and Aaron’s Lucky Dog.

Bloodhound Bash
When? October 30
Where? Downtown Auburndale
What? The City of Auburndale and Auburndale High School presents the 2013 Bloodhound Bash, an event known as “The world’s largest pep rally”. The Bash will feature a parade and entertainment by The Imperial Sound of Auburndale High School. High school clubs will be onsite vending food, drinks, and merchandise.

BOO! Bash Halloween Celebration
When? October 31
Where? 
Explorations V Children’s Museum, Lakeland
What?  BOO! Bash provides hands-on Halloween fun and games. Children and their caregivers are encouraged to wear their finest storybook, fairytale or super hero costume (child-friendly, of course) to take the excitement up a notch. BOO! Games, prizes, snacks, music and movement are all included with admission while supplies last.

Rocky Horror Picture Show

What?
 The Rocky Horror Picture Show is the 1975 film adaptation of the British rock musical stage play, and is presented by The Lipstick Players at the Polk Theatre.

Flying Tigers Halloween Spooktacular

Joker Marchant Stadium, Lakeland
What?  The Flying Tigers will host their Halloween Spooktacular at Joker Marchant Stadium this Halloween featuring candy, face painters, bounce houses, balloon artists, games and more!

Halloween Flashlight Egg Hunt

Simpson Park Community Center, Lakeland
What?  Bring your own flashlight at this outdoor activity for kids ages 3-10 as they hunt for treat-filled eggs outside using flashlights.

Fall Festival Delight

Cracker Storytelling Festival
When? October 10-11
Where? Homeland Heritage Park, Bartow
What? We are excited to have a select group of Florida storytellers to bring you an exciting and entertaining day with your students. This event is local, fits curriculum for all grade levels and is very inexpensive.

Quilts and Tea Preview at Outpost 27

 Polk Outpost 27, Davenport
What? Polk Outpost 27 will host a preview of Davenport’s 12th Quilts and Tea Festival and Vintage Marketplace.

Oktoberfest
When? October 17
Where? Central Park, Winter Haven
What? Celebrate Oktoberfest at this annual Main Street Winter Haven event.  Event features beer, bratwurst and live music.

Lake Mirror Classic Automobile Festival
When? October 17-19
Where? 
Lake Mirror Promenade, Lakeland
What?  Now in its 15th year, the event attracts 35,000 spectators to admire the more than 600 show vehicles displayed around the restored 1920’s, art deco-inspired Lake Mirror promenade in downtown Lakeland, Florida – one of the most scenic venues in the country.

Boktoberfest

What?  Enjoy live entertainment, German food, craft beers, tree climbing and children’s activities and a plant sale.

Polk State College’s Annual FallFest

Polk State College, Winter Haven
What?
 Thousands trek to the campus each third Saturday in October to enjoy the event that features a craft show, the Kids Zone, music, police and EMS demonstrations, the Pumpkin Patch, food, the Haunted House, and more.

Central Florida NatureFest
When? 
October 23-26
Where? 
 Throughout Polk County
What? Enjoy some of the area’s 554 lakes on kayaking and airboat excursions explore Circle B Bar Reserve with a Night Owl tour and wildlife photography sessions, tour rare conservation lands and experience the natural gems of Polk County on assorted birding, hiking and photography tours.

2014 Dundee Fall Fest

Where? Dundee Community Center
What? Join the Town of Dundee for games, face painting, pumpkins, food, candy and hayrides.

Munn Park Garden Extravaganza
When?

Munn Park, Lakeland
What? Enjoy a free family day of activities while exploring the many plants and flowers for sale at the 30th Annual Munn Park Garden Extravaganza that will feature over 50 vendors who will be selling a large variety of plants and flowers for yards and patios, as well as beautiful and unusual garden art.

Polk Outpost 27 Fall Festival
When? October 25
Where? 
Polk Outpost 27, Davenport
What? This free, family-friendly event will include a pumpkin carving and painting contest, candy, games, prize giveaways, a pumpkin patch, a bounce house for kids, a magic show and free. The Bloodmobile will be onsite for donors, and booths by LEGOLAND® Florida Resort, Bok Tower Gardens, Davidson of Dundee and more are expected. Attendees will receive one free LEGOLAND® Florida Resort or Bok Tower Gardens ticket for each one (of the same) purchased at Polk Outpost 27 on the day of the event.

Pioneer Days Festival
When?

 Shores of Lake Wailes Lake, Lake Wales
What? Pioneer Days Festival activities include crafters, demonstrators, re-enactors, an antique car parade, a free architectural carriage tour, children’s activities, entertainment and much more. The Pioneer of the Year will be announced Saturday at 10:00 a.m. during Pioneer Hour.

Fall Festival presented by NorthRidge Church

Lake Eva Park, Haines City
What? This year, you will still see your favorite free elements and a few extras: inflatables, food, games, train ride, Ident-A-Kid, Fire Department exhibits, demonstrations by the Polk County Sherriff’s Office SWAT and Rescue teams, and plenty of candy.

Autumn Craft Fair

Where? 
 Downtown Auburndale
What? Enjoy the works of handmade crafters and fine artists, food, live entertainment, a student art exhibit, and Historic Baynard House Tours.

Fall Festival at Solivita
When?

Where? 
 Solivita, Poinciana
What? Now in its 13 year, this annual event was created to promote the arts and crafts within Solivita and surrounding Central Florida communities in Poinciana. Artisan and craft vendors will exhibit and sell their handcrafted creations along Solivita’s beautiful Village drive.

Kathleen Area Historical Society Fall Festival
When? 
November 1
Where? 
 Homeland Heritage Park, Lakeland
What? Spend the morning with the Kathleen Area Historical Society watching the cane syrup process, enjoying breakfast and lunch as well as entertainment, games/activities, storytelling, and more.

Quilts and Tea Festival
When? 
November 14-15
Where? 
 Downtown Davenport, Davenport
What? Davenport’s Quilts and Tea Festival is an indoor, outdoor event located in Downtown Davenport. Approximately 100 quilts will be on display in historic buildings and along the historic walkway.
